Hullo, friends! I’ve had something of a thought and an ambition that might be quite good fun, and the Dear knows what better place to share?

Some of you may know Project Gutenberg or Literal Systems, which provide free audiobooks to the public online. Though there are a number of excellent audio adaptations available for our beloved Aubrey-Maturin series, we fans don’t often get to join in the fun. Whyever not, I say?

We of Fuck Yeah Aubrey-Maturin, therefore, hereby propose a collaborative reading of Patrick O’Brian’s The Far Side of the World!

If you’re interested, here’s the deal!

1. There are ten chapters to Far Side of the World. As they are prodigiously long, they’ll each be split in two, meaning there are twenty available slots.
2. Reblog this post, drop a message in the ask box, or e-mail us at aubreymaturinsubmissions@mail.com if you’d like to read a section or have questions. No previous reading experience necessary, by any means - all you need is a microphone, means of recording, and a copy of the text! (Funny voices/accents optional)
3. Receive your text allocation in a week’s time (hint hint, hurry hurry) and await further instruction!
